Maria De Marsico
Sapienza Università di Roma
Italy

Brief Bio
Maria De Marsico is an Assistant Professor at the Sapienza University of Rome, Department of Computer Science. She graduated in Computer Science at University of Salerno with the dissertation "Structures and visual languages" about various approaches to image segmentation, with particular reference to techniques of structural type. Her research concerns the study of Biometric systems (face, iris, multibiometrici systems), Pattern Recognition, Image Processing, and Human-Machine Interaction, particularly issues of accessibility and e-learning. She is Area Editor of IEEE Biometrics Compendium (online) created by IEEE Biometrics Council, and Associated editor of the Journal of Pattern Recognition In Physics (JPRP). She was also co-editor with S. Levialdi and E. Panizzi of the Proceedings of the Working Conference on Advanced Visual Interfaces - AVI 2002, Guest Editor with A. Fred of the Proceedings of International Conference on Pattern Recognition Applications and Methods - ICPRAM 2013. In 2009, she co-edited with G. Vitiello the Special Issue of the Journal of Visual Languages and Computing “Multimodal Interaction through Haptic Feedback”. Currently, she is Guest Co-Editor with Michael Nappi (University of Salerno) and Hugo Proenca (University of Beira Interior - Portugal) of the two forthcoming Special Issues of the journal Pattern Recognition Letters on Mobile Iris Challenge Evaluation (MICHE I and II). She is Editor with Michele Nappi (University of Salerno) and Massimo Tistarelli (University of Sassari) of a book that will be published by IGI Global titled "Face recognition in adverse conditions". She was Program Chair of the conference ICPRAM 2013 (International Conference on Pattern Recognition Applications to Methods) and general co-chair of the special session Biometric Systems: Theory and Applications (BSTA) of the same conference. Currently, she is the Program Chair of ICPRAM 2014. She is Member of IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), ACM (Association for Computing Machinery) and GIRPR (Italian Group of Researchers in Pattern Recognition). ... More >>
